Claire reported that she had a meeting with Knowes HA regarding the rubbish at Bryson Langfaulds, Langside, Lawmuir and Whitehill closes. Residents have been filling recycling bins with landfill waste and these bins have not been emptied. The result of this is that rats have been seen in the areas of the bins. Knowes have asked that we contact environmental services as this is now a public health issue.
The role of the Community Council was discussed briefly and agreed to look at this again after the AGM. The litter pick arranged with the Council was an unresounding failure with only 2 Community Councillors attending.

Police Report
There were 16 offences this month and improvement on 23 this time last year. There were varying degrees of crimes committed this month with one serious assault of a child. There was an incident at Hardgate where a group of drunk individuals attacked a member of the public. This group had spent the day drinking at the Humphrey and were disorderly on their way back from there. It was agreed that the best way to avoid a repeat of this incident was to phone the police to stop the groups on their way up to the Humphrey whereby the police could confiscate the alcohol and thus preventing unruly behaviour.
Gregor McIntyre update Gregor reported that plans were being made to commemorate the ending of the first world war 100 years ago on 11 November 2018. The day will begin with a piper playing Sleep in Peace the Battles’ o’er at 6 am. At 6.55 pm a bugler with play the Last Post followed at 7.05 pm by church bells peeling. This will happen all around the country. At 11.00 am his congregation will lay poppy wreaths and crosses and the Man and Boy statue in Faifley. People are being asked to light beacon across the land. Gregor explained that our community could light a gas beacon (7ft tall) which wen it burns out is completely safe. It was agreed that the Community Council would pay for this for our community. The cost is £360 plus VAT, Claire proposed we pay for beacon this was seconded by Caroline MacDonald. It was suggested that we look at the corner of Faifley Road at the chapel which would be central for everyone.
Sport Update
Gordon explained that he has lots of experience as a coach and at present works one day a week at each of the local primary schools He was trying to get more children and their parents interested in sport. Gordon stated that he was working on summer camps for kids from the local schools between 6-7 pm on Tuesdays this would be free.
