The role of the Returning Officer

The Chief Executive, Peter Hessett is the Returning Officer for Elections in West Dunbartonshire and is in charge of

  • setting up polling places
  • providing staff to work at polling stations
  • managing the postal voting process
  • counting the votes
  • declaring the local total.
