Care leavers Exemption and Discount

An exemption or discount from Council Tax can apply where a young person has previously been looked after by a Local Authority but is no longer under Local Authority care.

The person must:

  • Have been looked after by a Local Authority on or after their 16th Birthday
  • Be under 26
  • No longer be looked after by a Local Authority
