We look after 153 structures within West Dunbartonshire. The scale of the structures ranges from small culverts & pedestrian footbridges to large multispan road bridges.
All bridges are inspected to National Standards. There is a general inspection every one to two years. A more thorough inspection happens every six to ten years. Special inspections are carried out as required. For example, a bridge may be damaged by bad weather.
Faults can be discovered by an inspection or information provided by the public. These faults are fixed as part of an ongoing maintenance programme
