Clydebank Museum opened in 1980 in Clydebank Town Hall. It was originally operated by volunteers drawn from the local communities that had lobbied for its creation. Through the years the museum has developed, becoming part of Clydebank District Libraries and now sitting under the Arts and Heritage Team of West Dunbartonshire Libraries and Cultural Services.

Clydebank Museum and Art Gallery

Fine Art from the West Dunbartonshire Council Museum Collection is exhibited in Galleries 1-4.

A selection of maritime fine art complements a permanent exhibition of large model ships at the entrance, highlighting the area’s proud maritime and industrial heritage.

Examples from the Singer Sewing Machine collection which was awarded the 'Recognised Collection of National Significance' by Museums Galleries Scotland in 2013 are also on display.
