West Dunbartonshire Council has welcomed the addition of more than 130 new permanent jobs in the area from drinks manufacturer Chivas Brothers.
The company, which has had a base in Dumbarton for more than 80 years, announced the news earlier this month saying that the 136 jobs would strengthen their supply chain.
Elected members were given a tour of the Kilmalid bottling plant after meeting with company representatives to celebrate the news this week.
Councillor Craig Edward, Convener of the Council’s Housing and Communities committee, said: “Chivas Brothers has had a longstanding presence in West Dunbartonshire and I welcome the news that they are continuing to invest in our area.
“These permanent posts mean our residents have increased job opportunities, as well as demonstrating to other multi-national organisations that West Dunbartonshire is an ideal setting for business.
“As a Council we are committed to providing more opportunities for jobs and training to our residents, and we want to work closely with local businesses to ensure continued economic growth in our area.”
Councillor John Millar, Vice Convener for Housing and communities, added: “Our pledge to create 2000 jobs in West Dunbartonshire over the course of our term is one of our top priorities, and it is so pleasing to see that such a large employer is expanding in our area.
“New and permanent roles are in such high demand, especially during this ongoing cost of living crisis. I would encourage anyone who is considering applying for the positions and requires some help to make use of the support offered by our Working4U service.”
